There is a bug/feature with the new site that can cause you not to be able to see friends requests etc in the toolbar, you receive a tooltip error message. The new site is far more secure from a privacy and data perspective. It throws a wobble for two reasons:-
1. You have sessions logged in on multiple devices that may have differing IP's (PC and phone for example), logout of all devices and log back in on one.
2. Under your profile privacy settings you are blocking everybody, please check your settings.
The site is always a challenge when I add the social element, the associations across the differing views is complex... Still as I always say "It will be alright in the end and if it is not alright yet it is obviously not the end"
