I need to match my new Intel i7-6700K LGA1151 CPU with a new (inexpensive?) motherboard to go with . The I bought is not the one I need. Suggestions? Thx.

You can search a site like Newegg.com for motherboards that match the LGA1151 processor support and you can then match what type of case you have (or plan on buying). Usually have a pretty good review of the boards on the site too.

Hi if I am not mistaken this is a skylake processor and as such you nees a H110 series chipset motherboard. This is an older model cpu and you might be best finding a motherboard to suit from amazon for example:

Hi Ghost, I bought 2 (8 gig) (16 gig total) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4. I didn't get a new PSU. I think the one I have now is 800watt. Should I? Hows this board look?

That board looks great although expensive, Z170 boards are difficult to get hold of, older tech. The memory is a perfect match for board and CPU

I5-4690K is 625th in ranking
I7-6700k is 316th in ranking
So yes the I7 cpu is far better but still not as good as you could have got.
Pitty you didn't ask for help when choosing cpu

Yes I should have come here first. Like with most of my better ideas they come after the fact. But I'm here now so hopefully I can selvage some of this. I looked at the i9's but talk about $$$$.. Sheesh. Also this new stuff will be 64 bit correct? If so will my 32 windows Home update itself to 64 after I'm guessing I'll have to re-load that?
I would just get yourself a cheap new motherboard (wouldn't trust second hand) as it has already cost you and get the system up and running. Please note if your version of windows is OEM and not Retail it will not activate with a new motherboard (thats if you are thinking of using windows from your previous computer)
