Right click on the game icon select "properties" from the bottom of the menu - see the box that say "target" that is the address that you need to copy into CoD4player

There is nowhere to put whats in the target box into cod4player. Only place is for the mod folder and that can stay blank.
You can put a tick in the Asociation of dm_1 extension though
Mine just worked

Hmmm sorry a long time since I installed it and had it in the back of my mind that it asked for the path on install. Just deleted mine and tried again, Just down loaded the file from the link I shared and un-zipped it to a folder - then copied/moved the CoD4player app to the desktop and as MAD_DAD says it just works - sooooooo not sure what to say Sharky m8.

Ok first step due to you not being able to unzip the file is:

Go to https://www.7-zip.org/

you will see Download 7-Zip 19.00 (2019-02-21) for Windows:

download the 32bit version if you have 32bit windows
or
download 64 bit version if you have 64 bit windows

To see if you have 32bit or 64bit windows do this

Right click on the start menu (the window icon bottom left of your screen)
Click on System

Under Device Specification you will see System Type. Here you see what version of windows you have
Mine says 64bit operating system x64-based processor

Install 7-Zip

Once you have downloaded the older version then use 7-Zip to extract it.

Right click on rar file
Click on 7-Zip
Click on Extract here
This will give you the folder Demo Player & 1 Demovideo
Inside this will be a folder called CoD4 Demo Player v 0.54
Now double click on cod4player.exe

When it opens Click on Setup and put a tick in the box Asociation of dm_1 extension
Click on Save
Now click on open Demo and browse to your demo folder(if it doesn't show straight away)... usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos
otherwise C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods\mod\demos
Select your demo and press open and now it should load

you can also from now on just go directly to the demo and double click on it to open it without cod4player running as it will open it automatically.
