Hi Guys,

Because I'm a bit of a networking geek, i had a question.

The TDM server rate is limited to '5000' which translates to (only) 5Kb/ps. The FFA server on the other hand rates a maximum of 25000 (25Kb/ps). Now the 'strange' thing is that both servers give me a tickrate of 120 PPS (take that console freaks :) ) but the difference is very noticable.

I have played the FFA server for quite a few hours in recent weeks and when I joined the TDM server last night I was suprised. It feels 'slow' of a bit 'laggy'. The ingame 'lag o meter' also show quite a lot of packet loss.

So my question. Is the server hosted elsewhere of on a different server or are these settings intentional. If so, why and could OGHF perhaps go to 25000 on TDM as well? :)

Cheers,

Nightmare

For those interested, I attached 2 Wireshark PPS reports. Both are pretty stable.

The 'drops' are me switching from game client to windows desktop btw.

I have no idea why there may be a difference. Probably it is due to how Flatsix has customized the servers?

Hi Night. Flatsix, (the clan owner) is the person to ask. He configs all the servers here. He did tell me once why some TDM settings are different to our DM server. When I wanted to extend the ping limit on DM to what is was on TDM, so South Africans could join our DM server as well. But I'm blowed if I can remember why he said some settings were different. Sorry.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the response.

Would you know what the best way would be to contact Flatsix?

Thanks!

Now there is a question I've asked myself many a time. :D

Seriously though, flatsix@oghf.org.uk or send him a personal message here within the website..

His occupation takes him all over the world and sometimes for quite a while.. So if for any reason a reply doesn't come back. That is probably the reason.

Cheers,
